LIP Watches
French watchmakers LIP have been creating fantastic designs for decades. In 1807 a man called Emmanuel Lipmann, who lived in Besancon, created a chronometer watch for the residents of the region to give to Napoleon. 60 years later, Emmanuel’s grandson Ernest opened a watch shop in the town. In 1896 they became branded as ‘LIP’, and by 1914 this company was the watchmaker to the artillery officers of the French army. Vintage models are very much collector’s items but they are still making beautiful watches and we’ve picked out our favourites.
